VILLAGE NIGHT
WELCOMING PROCESSION
The village paths
are decorated with countless "Penjors" decorated
bamboo pools, "Umbul - Umbul" large flag pools,
and numerous smaller palm leave weavings. All buildings within
the Pasar Malam compound are decorated with hundreds of "Paku
Pipits" flower garlands hanging from the ceilings and
each table is blessed with a small offering. All the guests
who experience our Pasar Malam village ceremony hype aside.
On arrival at the night market boundaries
guests need to stroll along the main path passed beautiful
crafted gardens filled with many of the spices used in Balinese
cooking.
Welcomed by the smallest and cutes inhabitants
of Desa Bali, school kids will give you a greeting which will
set the foundation for an extraordinary evening. A first stop
will be made on the out skirt of the "Banjar" (residential
quarters) surrounded by the village gardens, where the villagers
will serve you "Tabuhan" a refreshingly sweet and
tasty island concussion made from palm brandy and rice wine.

BALINESE
RIJSTTAFEL
During the colonial period of Indonesia the
Dutch lived rather lavish life’s, with plenty of servants
to assist in making life as comfortable as possible. Eating
was not any different and the choice given was either Colonial
Dutch or Indonesian Cuisine. When ever they referred to Indonesian
cooking then the basic phrase of Rijsttafel was used, meaning
Rice Table. Contrary to European cuisine, which was mostly
plated, Indonesian dishes were always served in the center
of the table surrounding a large basket of rice.
In Bali, rice is the main staple of each
meal and contrary to Western cuisine, meat, fish or vegetable
becomes a side dish. For you to get a taste of Bali, we recommend
to order several main dishes, which we will serve in the center
of the table, just as you would do in your home. We will offer
you a selection of rice with your main meal. |

MUSIC,
DANCE AND DRAMA
In Bali there is a fundamental integration of the performing
arts into daily, social, and religious activities. No celebration
or gathering is complete without music and dance. Such performances
serve to entertain both the Gods and the human participants
enabling both to return home after the ritual with a feeling
of well being and contentment. Because of the constant demand
for musical performance, there is a very large number of active
music and dance troops performing that night.
Once guests are seated, throughout the evening
they will be entertained with various Bali’s best cultural
performances on the island. |
